Date

Project Type

Brand Identity | Print & Digital Design

Three designers, Lu Zhao, Emma Poeckh, and Rashon Barksdale, joined forces to create RĒL Design because they were all dedicated to creating purposeful, brand-driven design. The initials of each member are reflected in the name RĒL, a concept that is also reflected in our visual identity.

Our logo is a contemporary, abstract combination of the letters R, E, and L, symmetrically arranged to strike a balance between simplicity and visual impact. An earthy color scheme of warm brown, muted gold, and olive green underpins the strong shapes and clean lines, which communicate balance, professionalism, and inventiveness. The carefully chosen Spinwerad typeface gives our wordmark boldness and refinement, and the logo echoes the horizontal line above the "E" in RĒL to strengthen brand unity.

Each member played a distinct and vital role in shaping RĒL Design’s direction:

Rashon Barksdale, Content Expert, led communication efforts, file organization, and brand voice development.

Emma Poeckh, Aesthetic Expert, ensured all visual elements aligned with client goals and upheld design consistency.

Lu Zhao, Technical Expert, created project documentation and presentation materials to streamline collaboration.

As part of our joint effort, we created adaptable logos and materials for both professional and student audiences for Rider University's TRIO Student Support Services and the McNair Scholars Program. Additionally, we created a personalized graduation medallion for McNair, giving the brand's commemorative achievements a material component.

Together, RĒL Design is committed to producing meaningful, flexible images that work well on print and digital media.
